Brewpubs

Although recent changes to Texas beer laws allow brewpubs to distribute their beer to retail outlets, their primary business is on-site sales. These are basically restaurants and bars that make their own beer, and many sell other beer, wine and liquor. Unlike production breweries, brewpubs can sell beer to go. Some of the brewpubs in the Austin area fall into the category of "nano-brewery", in that they produce fewer than four barrels of beer per batch. Many of the larger breweries in the U.S. started out as nano-breweries.
