The primary focus of production breweries, also known as "package" breweries, is to sell beer off-site in stores, bars, etc. Recent changes in Texas beer laws allow these breweries to sell beer directly to consumers for on-premise consumption in their tap rooms; but they still cannot sell beer to go.
The laws governing brewpubs were also modified during the 2013 Legislative Session, allowing them more avenues to sell their beer than production breweries. In response, a few of the breweries listed below have changed their licenses to brewpub licenses, in order to take advantage of the benefits. However, these breweries still ship more beer than they sell on-site; so we are categorizing them here as production breweries.
